Meeting secretariat WGIC 24 May 2007

State of Affairs

The action list is not update anymore.

  • Peter updates the list in early June.
  • The new HIVOS Officer start June 1.
  • Peter makes appointment with Wim and new HIVOS officer in June, to discuss: views, networks, roles, task division, funds.
  • Wim shows Peter book about LGBT in Kenia.

UNESCO

We go through the application form. Some parts require a more detailed description by us of our Alliance Guidelines. Peter has been working on those.
The application can only be submitted when we have all the legal documents. The draft Registration Act by H. Faassen will be ready next week. After registration, we still need to register with the Chamber of Commerce.
Other arrangements that should preferably be made before making a formal application:

  • Wim will explore the exact collaboration actions and opportunities in the context of current projects or new ones. For this, the Draft Strategy 2008-2013 of UNESCO needs to be analyzed better and other documents mentioned there need to be studied.
  • Peter will give Wim some pointers for this.
  • Peter will update the application form with his comments.

It is better to submit a thorough application a bit later, than to force it now. So our aim for submission is now September.

Strategy Europe

  • Peter will update the strategy plan next week.
  • Then he will send it to the SG-EU, and after some time to ILGA EU and the IGYO/OBESSU group.
  • In the mean time, Wim will look at possible funds.
  • Peter goes to the ILGA strategy meeting in Sofia on July 7 to see if he can incorporate collaboration with GALE.

Volunteers

We go through the volunteer profiles and update them. Wim will ask Kamil as author/editor.

  • Wim asks Luc as editor
  • Peter asks Belén for editors
  • Peter asks Robert Simon and Georges-Louis Tin for suggestions for an UNESCO Liaison Officer. Georges-Louis may want to do this himself.
  • Peter asks Björn and Janfrans for suggestions for Brussels Liaison Officer.
  • Peter develops a recruiting leaflet, and ask Stefan Silvestri to make a pdf format for such leaflets for GALE.

Public Relations

The newsletters will be called GALE Update (for members) en LGBT Education (for external PR). GALE Update will have the news headers from the website news menu and display title and lead. Who wants to read more will be linked to the website. LGBT Education will have the same headers, but it will contain full articles which are edited specifically for possible donors and international networks.

FILAD Contract

There is 4.000 on the budget for FILAD (Wim). This budget will be directed to:

  1. Signaling possible funds
  2. Development of funding proposals (options: WICAPI, African Manual, 3 or 4 European projects, maybe a transgender project).

A possible transgender project could consist of developing a background reader for professionals, a training manual and (in combination with the Dutch initiative) a brochure for schools.
