Biological male in India who engage in sexual relations with other men they call pantis. Also: effeminate man.
Other terms used for kois are khoja, zenana, jankha, and moorat.
Sometimes, kotis see themselves as hijrahs to be.
Background information for members
Definition taken from Ila Nagar, who did research on Kotis in Lucknow. Kotis talk of their desires in terms of armaan , which means desires of a women. In Lucknow, kotis refer to themselves as janana , which is colloquial Hindoestani for women and activities associated with women. Lucknow kotis like to be seen a dutiful wives, even though, because of social family pressure, they are often married with a women and have a traditional family.
