Brazil offers support for GALE
During a three day visit to Brasilia, GALE got support from several ministries, politicians, UNAIDS and UNESCO. The visit was successful beyond expectation. The Ministries of Education, Health and Justice pledged their support. UNAIDS offered a starting budget for a quick scan in the region. »>

GALE Africa focuses on media
From 23 until 28 September, a group of 10 representatives from southern African organizations came together in Centurion, South Africa to discuss the creation of a resource tool for journalists and other media workers. The publication will be the key tool of the GALE Strategy in Africa. »>

Asia starts storytelling project
The Global Alliance for LGBT Education (GALE) starts this year with two projects in Asia: a quick scan and a storytelling project. The two projects will be managed in a combined strategy. Later this year, the group also wants start a project on mainstreaming LGBT issues in women's organizations. »>

GALE site launched on October 9
The website of GALE was launched on October 8, during the meeting of the Advisory Board in Amsterdam. In this meeting the Advisory Board evaluated the developments in the past year and made recommendations for the next two years. The recommendations will be used in the working plan of GALE for 2008-2009. »>

ILGA and GALE pledge collaboration
In a meeting on December 21, the ILGA world staff and GALE director Peter Dankmeijer pledged to collaborate on several issues in 2008. Agreements were made on information exchange, the ILGA conference, on a storytelling campaign and on taking lesbian issues into account. »>>
