Eliza Byard
Eliza Byard has served as Deputy Executive Director of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) since 2001, and is responsible for the organization’s strategic direction and day-to-day operations. GLSEN is the largest national education organization dedicated to ending bias and harassment directed at LGBT people in K-12 schools in the United States. Byard oversees all of GLSEN’s programs, including policy advocacy, student and community organizing, training and curriculum development, public education and media relations, and research. Byard joined GLSEN after a varied career in non-profit administration, film and television production, and academia. She holds a Ph.D. in U.S. History from Columbia University in New York City.
